Data simply stands for facts and figures which may contain bits of information, complete information or no information at all.
When data are
processed, interpreted, organized, structured and presented and it makes sense for which one needs the information, then only it is called Information.
This information adds meaning and improves the reliability of the data, ensuring understandability and reduces uncertainty.
To transform or to extract information from data one have to make it free from unnecessary details or immaterial things, which has some value as per the need.
Since Data needs to be interpreted and analyzed to extract the information out of it, it is quite possible that it will be interpreted incorrectly which leads to erroneous conclusions, thus such information inferred from data is said to be that the data are misleading. This kind of scenario is mostly due to incomplete data or a lack of context.

⭐ The Needs & Importance of Information:

Information is an aid in decision making, policy making needed for the policy makers, decision makers, managers etc.

Information will have a reinforcing/ trans forming effect on human beings on receiving it. A great deal for change can be perceived in the human minds/ attitudes on obtaining the information, as it increases the ability of personal knowledge for the recipient.

Information generates new information. This is the existing knowledge/ information helps in generating new information; new knowledge; new theories, etc.

In fact, scientists and scholars avail or use information to produce another document, like research reports, thesis/ dissertations, books, journal articles, seminar paper etc.

The users of various professions and vocations like doctors, engineers, scientists, scholars etc. acquire and apply information in order to do their job more effectively and efficiently. i.e. application of information for practical purposes.

Information supports research in order to obtain effective and fruitful results.

⭐ Definition of Information Technology

Humans have been storing, retrieving, manipulating, and communicating information since the Sumerians in Mesopotamia developed writing in about 3000 BC. However, the term InformationTechnology in its modern sense first appeared in a 1958 article published in the Harvard Business Review; authors Harold J. Leavitt and Thomas L. Whisler commented that "the new technology does not yet have a single established name. We shall call it information technology (IT). Their definition consists of three categories: techniques for processing, the application of statistical and mathematical methods to decision-making, and the simulation of higher-order thinking through computer programs.

⭐ Importance of Information Technology

Information Technology plays a number of vital roles in organizations: in improving communication, Inventory Management, decision making, data management as well as customer relationship management.
Information Technology (IT) is an integral part of every single business plan. Information technology plays a vital role in every business type including small, medium and large (multinational).
Information technology is used in companies to implement
communication.
Network (intranet and internet) and email play a key role in the organizational communication internally as well as externally. Today, organizational communication has been developed via chats and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and telephones (Curry, 2008). Inventory management systems will allow organizations to track stocks and activate an order of extra stock when the numbers drop below a pre-defined quantity. Companies connect the inventory management system to their Point-of-Sale (POS) systems to gain maximum efficiency.
The POS system ensures that every time a product is sold, the inventory is updated and information is shared among other divisions. Data is the critical element in
businesses today, and the security and effective management of data can be considered key drivers of organizations.
This has been simplified by information technology through databases, document digital versions and storage devices. These options have enabled businesses to ensure security, no unnecessary data duplication, data consistency, data backups and easy replication. Storage data is simply an advantage if the data can be used efficiently.
Advanced businesses use data in their strategic planning procedure in addition to the strategic implementation of the strategy. Management Information Systems (MIS) allow businesses to sort and plan sales data, costs, and efficiency levels. Management can find everyday sales levels, allowing them to directly respond to below-than-projected numbers by increasing worker efficiency or dropping the cost of a product.
Businesses use information technology to develop effective methods in customer relationship management. Instead of depending on communication in a traditional perspective, companies usually host a CRM system that connect the business systems to customers in a faster and more secure manner.

Information Technology plays a number of vital roles in organizations:
in improving communication, Inventory Management, decision making, data management as well as customer relationship management.
